Gas Fireplace Systems

Converting to Gas

If you are interested in converting your wood burning system to gas, you may be wondering if a set of gas logs is enough or if you'll need a gas insert. You first need to determine the amount of heat you desire. If you are simply looking for ambience, you may be a candidate for gas logs. However, if you are looking to heat an area that is always chilly, a gas insert is probably your best choice. From an economic standpoint, an insert will cost approximately three times the amount of a gas log set. Because they are far more efficient though, the insert will pay for itself over a period of a few years in gas bill savings. We offer a full line of inserts and gas logs to choose from. We'll install the unit and run a gas line to your firebox, if one doesn't already exist. For more information on converting your fireplace to a gas system, call us at (919) 678-0088.

Gas Fireplace Maintenance & Repair

Gas fireplaces are becoming more popular as improvements to efficiency and design become available. As with any appliance, they require maintenance and sometimes repair. Because they involve flame, heat and venting of combustible products, gas heating appliances require specialized knowledge for planning and installing. We offer annual maintenance programs and repair service to keep your gas appliance operating properly.

Green Home Guidelines

The National Association of Home Builders recommends the installation of direct-vent sealed combustion gas fireplaces when installing new gas burning units. This type of unit will minimize the risk of smoke and combustion byproducts back-drafting into the home. Direct-vent gas fireplaces are more energy-efficient than vent-free units as they use outside air for combustion and exhaust directly to the outside.

As you browse our products, look for the eco-friendly seal. If you see it, this means that particular model meets the NAHB Green Home Building Standards, is EPA-certified, or meets the Energy Star® Indoor Air Package Specification Guidelines.
